Xibalba in Sierra de Las Minas

Once a year our entire team makes their way to Sierra de las Minas; just a few hours from Antigua Guatemala, where our studio is based at, to collect some jade stones.

This time we were blessed to have such a great addition to our team; Hassel a local photographer, to capture some of the best moments, our findings and just portrait our team in its element.

Jade it's a native stone to Guatemala. The colors and shapes are key when creating a design. The characteristics of jade depend on its adaptation to the environment; from the absorption of minerals or contact with water during their transformation, are important to define them.

Our jade is a variation from the nephrite, the jade you’d find in the Asian continent. Guatemala is one of the few countries with jadeite. For our ancestors, this stone represents life and abundance.

Our head designer; Laura brought us all together for this trip and it is a wonderful feeling that while crossing the river a couple time looking for treasure pieces, we take time to connect with earth, water, and ourselves. We can have a moment where we connect with each other and share memories, we dream and we get to create together after all.

We would love you to invite you to connect with your very own jade stone, while transforming it into a unique jewelry piece. Get in contact with us to book your Stone Carving Workshop!
